A group of pencil studies comprising:
i Up in the Clouds, signed and dated 'Alfred Munnings. 51.' in pencil (lower centre), drawn opposite page 15 of An Artist's Life and separately mounted.
ii A study of horses being led in a paddock, drawn on the frontispiece of An Artist's Life and separately mounted.
iii A menu card with a sketch of a cowboy (recto), sketches of dray horse and figures, signed and inscribed 'AJMunnings/To Harry Backhouse at Calgary' (in pencil, verso).
iv A sketch of figures and horses at a racetrack, signed 'Alfred Munnings' (in pencil, recto), study of figures, signed, inscribed and dated 'In the saddling ring/Notes/Xmas 1949/Alfred Munnings/To Harry Backhouse' (in pencil, verso).

Auction result well in line with expectations
The work A group of pencil studies all unframed; by Alfred Munnings was sold in the 19th Century and British Impressionist Art auction at Bonhams in London in September last year. The price achieved of GBP 2,550.00 (€ 2,902.15) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 2,000.00 – 3,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Alfred Munnings achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Gypsies Arriving at Epsom in December 2000 with an auction result of USD 3,031,000.00 (€ 3,228,589.69).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Die Arbeit A group of pencil studies all unframed; von Alfred Munnings wurde im September letzten Jahres in der Auktion 19th Century and British Impressionist Art bei Bonhams in London versteigert. Der dabei erzielte Preis von GBP 2.550,00 (€ 2.902,15) lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit GBP 2.000,00 – 3.000,00 angegeben worden. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Alfred Munnings erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Gypsies Arriving at Epsom im Dezember 2000 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 3.031.000,00 (€ 3.228.589,69).
