In December 2003 Christies in London held the auction Important Gold Boxes,Objects of Vertu & Portrait Miniatures, which included the work A young gentleman, seated in a red upholstered chair, facing right in black coat with gold buttons, gold waistcoat and black cravat; burnt orange coloured curtain and sky background beyond by Simon Jacques Rochard. The price achieved of GBP 657.25 (€ 930.91) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 600.00 – 800.00.
