Five collector’s seals, including two of Xu Shichang (1854-1939) on the mounting
Colophon and titleslip by Xie Zhiliu (1910-1997), dated autumn, dingyou year (1957), with a total of four seals

Upper estimated price slightly exceeded
In July 2020 Christies in Hong Kong held the auction Fine Chinese Classical Paintings and Calligraphy, which included the work Pine and Rock by Shitao. The »bidding war« ended at HKD 6,125,000.00 (€ 671,076.10), 23% above the upper estimate. Admittedly, works by Shitao have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Poems, Calligraphy And Landscape in March 2015 with an auction result of USD 3,946,000.00 (€ 3,673,773.39).
Oberer Schätzpreis leicht übertroffen
Im Juli 2020 führte Christies in Hong Kong die Auktion Fine Chinese Classical Paintings and Calligraphy durch, in der auch die Arbeit Pine and Rock von Shitao zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von HKD 6.125.000,00 (€ 671.076,10) und damit 23% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Shitao auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Poems, Calligraphy And Landscape im März 2015 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 3.946.000,00 (€ 3.673.773,39).
