Artwork auctioned at 15 times the pre-set estimate
The work Chrysanthemum by Shitao was worth HKD 7,670.00 (€ 849.51) to a buyer in October 2020. This price was achieved in the auction The Joy of Autumn – Fine Chinese Paintings and Calligraphy (I) at POLY and exceeded the previously set estimate of HKD 500.00 many times over. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Shitao achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Poems, Calligraphy And Landscape in March 2015 with an auction result of USD 3,946,000.00 (€ 3,673,773.39).

Dieser Preise wurde in der Auktion The Joy of Autumn – Fine Chinese Paintings and Calligraphy (I) bei POLY erzielt und übertraf den zuvor angesetzten Schätzpreis von HKD 500,00 um ein Vielfaches. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Shitao erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Poems, Calligraphy And Landscape im März 2015 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 3.946.000,00 (€ 3.673.773,39).
