This artwork by Shitao achieved an unexpectedly high price at Sothebys in New York in September 2017. In the Fine Classical Chinese Paintings & Calligraphy auction, the work Lotus Flower And Root sold for USD 175,000.00 (€ 148,141.88) - well above the upper estimate of USD 80,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Shitao achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Poems, Calligraphy And Landscape in March 2015 with an auction result of USD 3,946,000.00 (€ 3,673,773.39).
Oberer Schätzpreis um mehr als 100% übertroffen
Dieses Kunstwerk von Shitao erzielte im September 2017 bei Sothebys in New York einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion Fine Classical Chinese Paintings & Calligraphy wurde die Arbeit Lotus Flower And Root für USD 175.000,00 (€ 148.141,88) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von USD 80.000,00. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Shitao erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Poems, Calligraphy And Landscape im März 2015 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 3.946.000,00 (€ 3.673.773,39).
