Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Star Sweet Shintaro Wars Live Painting (Study 3) by Shintaro Miyake was auctioned at Christies in New York in September 2019, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 8,000.00 – 10,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 4,375.00 (€ 4,011.92). Admittedly, works by Shintaro Miyake have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Path to Egypt in November 2011 with an auction result of HKD 412,500.00 (€ 39,462.39).
