Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work A kiss to unknowable winds (study) by Shinique Smith was auctioned at Christies in New York in December 2018, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 3,000.00 – 5,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 2,000.00 (€ 1,745.81). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Shinique Smith achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Rose Colored Times in September last year with an auction result of USD 81,900.00 (€ 83,716.65).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit A kiss to unknowable winds (study) von Shinique Smith im Dezember 2018 bei Christies in New York versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 3.000,00 – 5.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für USD 2.000,00 (€ 1.745,81) den Besitzer. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Shinique Smith erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Rose Colored Times im September letzten Jahres mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 81.900,00 (€ 83.716,65).
