This artwork by Shen Xinhai achieved an unexpectedly high price at Sothebys in New York in September 2015. In the Fine Classical Chinese Paintings & Calligraphy auction, the work Goddess Of Luo River sold for USD 11,250.00 (€ 10,078.84) - well above the upper estimate of USD 5,000.00. Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by Shen Xinhai; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot Figures sold at auction in October 2017 with the realized price of HKD 177,000.00 (€ 19,480.94).
