Auction result well in line with expectations
In September 2018 Sothebys in New York held the auction The Tang Hung and Fung Bi-Che Collection of Chinese Paintings & Calligraphy, which included the work Deer Under Pine Tree by Shen Quan. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 20,000.00 – 40,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 21,250.00 (€ 18,284.29) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Shen Quan achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Auspicious Deer in October 2014 with an auction result of HKD 3,658,000.00 (€ 376,601.76).
