Auction result misses estimated price range
This work of art by Shen Daohong could be acquired at Christies in Hong Kong in July 2003 for an unexpectedly low price. In the Fine Modern and Contemporary Chinese Paintings auction, the work Playing Chess changed hands for HKD 119,500.00 (€ 12,445.09) - missing the lower end of the estimate range of HKD 120,000.00 – 150,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Shen Daohong - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Seven Sages Of The Bamboo Grove, which sold at auction in October 2017 for HKD 413,000.00 (€ 45,455.53).
