Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Winter Mountain by Shangguan Zhou was auctioned at Christies in Hong Kong in November 2006. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of HKD 80,000.00 – 100,000.00, the actual price achieved of HKD 84,000.00 (€ 8,145.99) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Shangguan Zhou - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work A Lesson in the Afternoon, which sold at auction in November 2010 for HKD 187,500.00 (€ 18,525.62).
