In June this year Christies in Paris held the auction Exquisite Eye: Chinese Paintings Online, which included the work Eight-character Calligraphy Couplet in Oracle Bone Script by Shang Chengzuo. The »bidding war« ended at HKD 37,800.00 (€ 4,416.92), 51% above the upper estimate. Admittedly, works by Shang Chengzuo have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Calligraphy In Clerical/Seal Script in April 2015 with an auction result of HKD 230,000.00 (€ 26,581.26).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 51 % übertroffen
Im Juni diesen Jahres führte Christies in Paris die Auktion Exquisite Eye: Chinese Paintings Online durch, in der auch die Arbeit Eight-character Calligraphy Couplet in Oracle Bone Script von Shang Chengzuo zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von HKD 37.800,00 (€ 4.416,92) und damit 51% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Shang Chengzuo auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Calligraphy In Clerical/Seal Script im April 2015 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von HKD 230.000,00 (€ 26.581,26).
