Auction result well in line with expectations
The work The Apology by Sergei Petrovich Ivanov was sold in the Important Silver, Russian Works of Art and Paintings auction at Christies in London in November 2003. The price achieved of GBP 3,824.00 (€ 5,489.41) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 3,000.00 – 5,000.00. Admittedly, works by Sergei Petrovich Ivanov have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Portrait of two young girls with dolls in November 2007 with an auction result of GBP 31,700.00 (€ 44,388.20).
