Auction result well in line with expectations
In June 2019 Christies in London held the auction Russian Art, which included the work Two portraits of the artist’s wife, Lydia Vytchegjanine (1889-1960) by Sergei Chekhonin. The price achieved of GBP 5,000.00 (€ 5,620.74) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 4,000.00 – 6,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Sergei Chekhonin achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Still Life With Roses, Anemones And Chrysanthemums In A Chinese Vase in June 2021 with an auction result of GBP 275,000.00 (€ 320,446.49).
