Artwork auctioned at seven times the upper estimate price
When the work Furniture designs, including technical drawings for two dressing tables and a decorative screen; Sundial; and A design for Vogue by Sergei Chekhonin was auctioned at Christies in London in June 2019, the result exceeded expectations many times over. The upper estimate was set at a - in retrospect quite modest - GBP 3,000.00 but the actual price achieved was more than seven times as high at GBP 21,250.00 (€ 23,888.15). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Sergei Chekhonin achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Still Life With Roses, Anemones And Chrysanthemums In A Chinese Vase in June 2021 with an auction result of GBP 275,000.00 (€ 320,446.49).
