Upper estimate price exceeded by more than 100%
This artwork by Sergei Chekhonin achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in London in June 2019. In the Russian Art auction, the work Two designs for journals 'Plamia'; and 'Jar-Ptitsa'; and An Ex Libris sold for GBP 13,750.00 (€ 15,457.04) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 5,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Sergei Chekhonin achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Still Life With Roses, Anemones And Chrysanthemums In A Chinese Vase in June 2021 with an auction result of GBP 275,000.00 (€ 320,446.49).
