Artwork auctioned at ten times the upper estimate price
The work A collection of eighty-seven textile designs, some by the artist's stepson Pierre Ino by Sergei Chekhonin was worth GBP 150,000.00 (€ 168,622.25) to a buyer in June 2019. This price was achieved in the auction Russian Art at Christies in London and exceeded the previously set upper estimate of GBP 15,000.00 many times over. Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by Sergei Chekhonin; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot Still Life With Roses, Anemones And Chrysanthemums In A Chinese Vase sold at auction in June 2021 with the realized price of GBP 275,000.00 (€ 320,446.49).
