The »bidding war« ended at USD 12,700.00 (€ 12,017.41), 27% above the upper estimate. Admittedly, works by Sebastião Salgado have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work 'Serra Pelada, Gold Mine, Brazil' in April 2021 with an auction result of USD 126,000.00 (€ 104,738.15).

Die Arbeit Chinstrap Penguins (Pygoscelis Antartica) on an iceberg located between Zavodovski and Visokoi Islands, South Sandwich Islands von Sebastião Salgado wurde im Oktober diesen Jahres in der Auktion Photographs bei Phillips in New York versteigert. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von USD 12.700,00 (€ 12.017,41) und damit 27% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Sebastião Salgado auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit 'Serra Pelada, Gold Mine, Brazil' im April 2021 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 126.000,00 (€ 104.738,15).
