A top price for Sebastião Salgado - as previously expected
The work 'Serra Pelada, Gold Mine, Brazil' by Sebastião Salgado was auctioned at Sothebys in New York in April 2021. The price achieved of USD 126,000.00 (€ 104,738.15) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as USD 100,000.00 – 150,000.00. Even if this result could not surprise positively, 'Serra Pelada, Gold Mine, Brazil' is the most expensive artwork by Sebastião Salgado that we have observed at auctions so far.
