Auction result misses estimated price range
In October 2017 a collector was able to acquire the work Drying Hair by Seah Kim Joo for HKD 11,875.00 (€ 1,306.98). This price was achieved in the auction Modern and Contemporary Southeast Asian Art – Day Sale at Sothebys in Hong Kong and was even below the estimate range of HKD 15,000.00 – 25,000.00 set by the auction house. Admittedly, works by Seah Kim Joo have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Boat Quay (Cityscape) in October 2017 with an auction result of HKD 112,500.00 (€ 12,381.95).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Im Oktober 2017 konnte ein Sammler die Arbeit Drying Hair von Seah Kim Joo für HKD 11.875,00 (€ 1.306,98) erwerben. Dieser Preis wurde in der Auktion Modern and Contemporary Southeast Asian Art – Day Sale bei Sothebys in Hong Kong erzielt und lag noch unterhalb der von dem Auktionshaus angesetzten Schätzpreisspanne von HKD 15.000,00 – 25.000,00. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Seah Kim Joo auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Boat Quay (Cityscape) im Oktober 2017 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von HKD 112.500,00 (€ 12.381,95).
