Auction result misses estimated price range
This work of art by Seah Kim Joo could be acquired at Bonhams in Hong Kong in June last year for an unexpectedly low price. In the Southeast Asian Modern & Contemporary Art Online auction, the work Mother and Child changed hands for HKD 2,295.00 (€ 279.28) - missing the lower end of the estimate range of HKD 5,000.00 – 10,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Seah Kim Joo achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Boat Quay (Cityscape) in October 2017 with an auction result of HKD 112,500.00 (€ 12,381.95).
