In May 2007 Christies in London held the auction Maritime & Naval Battles (Pictures), which included the work The barque Vere in heavy seas in a night gale off the South Stack lighthouse, Anglesey by Samuel Walters. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 9,600.00 (€ 14,127.05), 37% above the upper estimate. Admittedly, works by Samuel Walters have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work The Confederate blockade runner C.S.S COLONEL LAMB at sea in February 2004 with an auction result of USD 77,675.00 (€ 62,434.69).

Im Mai 2007 führte Christies in London die Auktion Maritime & Naval Battles (Pictures) durch, in der auch die Arbeit The barque Vere in heavy seas in a night gale off the South Stack lighthouse, Anglesey von Samuel Walters zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von GBP 9.600,00 (€ 14.127,05) und damit 37% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Samuel Walters auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit The Confederate blockade runner C.S.S COLONEL LAMB at sea im Februar 2004 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 77.675,00 (€ 62.434,69).
