Auction result well in line with expectations
The work H.M.S. Director, raking the Dutch flagship Vrijheid, during the Battle of Camperdown, 11th October 1797 by Samuel Owen was sold in the Maritime and Naval Battles auction at Christies in London in November 2000. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 2,000.00 – 4,000.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 2,115.00 (€ 3,456.88) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Samuel Owen - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work A frigate, an excursion steamer and barges on the Thames before Greenwich Hospital, which sold at auction in October 2007 for GBP 7,500.00 (€ 10,770.49).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Die Arbeit H.M.S. Director, raking the Dutch flagship Vrijheid, during the Battle of Camperdown, 11th October 1797 von Samuel Owen wurde im November 2000 in der Auktion Maritime and Naval Battles bei Christies in London versteigert.
