Upper estimated price slightly exceeded
In October 2007 Christies in London held the auction Important Maritime Art, which included the work H.M.S. Dido engaging the French frigate La Minerve, with H.M.S. Lowestoft chasing L'Artémise beyond, 24th June 1795 by Samuel Owen. Here, the upper estimate of GBP 3,000.00 was slightly exceeded - the artwork found a new owner for GBP 3,250.00 (€ 4,667.21). However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Samuel Owen - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work A frigate, an excursion steamer and barges on the Thames before Greenwich Hospital, which sold at auction in October 2007 for GBP 7,500.00 (€ 10,770.49).
Oberer Schätzpreis leicht übertroffen
Im Oktober 2007 führte Christies in London die Auktion Important Maritime Art durch, in der auch die Arbeit H.M.S. Dido engaging the French frigate La Minerve, with H.M.S. Lowestoft chasing L'Artémise beyond, 24th June 1795 von Samuel Owen zur Versteigerung kam. Dabei wurde der obere Schätzpreis von GBP 3.000,00 leicht übertroffen – das Kunstwerk fand für GBP 3.250,00 (€ 4.667,21) einen neuen Besitzer. Für andere Arbeiten von Samuel Owen mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit A frigate, an excursion steamer and barges on the Thames before Greenwich Hospital beobachtet, die im Oktober 2007 für GBP 7.500,00 (€ 10.770,49) versteigert wurde.
