Auction result well in line with expectations
The work South-East View Of St. Werburgh Church, Blackwell, Derbyshire by Samuel Hieronymus Grimm was sold in the Old Master & British Works on Paper auction at Sothebys in London in July 2017. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 1,500.00 – 2,500.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 1,750.00 (€ 1,952.73) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Admittedly, works by Samuel Hieronymus Grimm have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Four Views Of Switzerland: Including View Of: The Grimsel Pass With The Handeck Waterfall; The Haslital; The Schollenen Gorge And Devil'S Bridge, And A Bridge With Waterfalls In The Haslital in July 2010 with an auction result of GBP 15,000.00 (€ 18,035.81).
