Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work A distant view of a cottages through a wood by Samuel Hieronymus Grimm was auctioned at Christies in London in June 2002, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of GBP 1,500.00 – 2,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for GBP 1,410.00 (€ 2,180.95). Admittedly, works by Samuel Hieronymus Grimm have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Four Views Of Switzerland: Including View Of: The Grimsel Pass With The Handeck Waterfall; The Haslital; The Schollenen Gorge And Devil'S Bridge, And A Bridge With Waterfalls In The Haslital in July 2010 with an auction result of GBP 15,000.00 (€ 18,035.81).
Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Samuel Hieronymus Grimm auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Four Views Of Switzerland: Including View Of: The Grimsel Pass With The Handeck Waterfall; The Haslital; The Schollenen Gorge And Devil'S Bridge, And A Bridge With Waterfalls In The Haslital im Juli 2010 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 15.000,00 (€ 18.035,81).
