Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Derby Stakes, The Start; Derby Stakes, The Finish by Samuel Henry Alken was auctioned at Sothebys in London in November 2013, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of GBP 10,000.00 – 15,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for GBP 8,750.00 (€ 10,529.45). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Samuel Henry Alken achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Start for the Derby; and Winning the Derby in May 2017 with an auction result of USD 118,750.00 (€ 105,687.08).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit Derby Stakes, The Start; Derby Stakes, The Finish von Samuel Henry Alken im November 2013 bei Sothebys in London versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 10.000,00 – 15.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für GBP 8.750,00 (€ 10.529,45) den Besitzer. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Samuel Henry Alken erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Start for the Derby; and Winning the Derby im Mai 2017 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 118.750,00 (€ 105.687,08).
