Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Coaching scenes by Samuel Henry Alken was sold in the Sporting Art auction at Christies in London in May 2008. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 8,000.00 – 12,000.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 8,750.00 (€ 11,130.38) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Admittedly, works by Samuel Henry Alken have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Start for the Derby; and Winning the Derby in May 2017 with an auction result of USD 118,750.00 (€ 105,687.08).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Die Arbeit Coaching scenes von Samuel Henry Alken wurde im Mai 2008 in der Auktion Sporting Art bei Christies in London versteigert. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 8.000,00 – 12.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von GBP 8.750,00 (€ 11.130,38) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Samuel Henry Alken auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Start for the Derby; and Winning the Derby im Mai 2017 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 118.750,00 (€ 105.687,08).
