In January 2017 Christies in New York held the auction Old Master Prints, which included the work The Fall of the Giants by Salvator Rosa. The »bidding war« ended at USD 7,500.00 (€ 6,948.30), 50% above the upper estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Salvator Rosa achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Portrait of the artist, half-length, in a brown doublet in July 2010 with an auction result of GBP 769,250.00 (€ 924,936.45).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 50 % übertroffen
Im Januar 2017 führte Christies in New York die Auktion Old Master Prints durch, in der auch die Arbeit The Fall of the Giants von Salvator Rosa zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von USD 7.500,00 (€ 6.948,30) und damit 50% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Salvator Rosa erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Portrait of the artist, half-length, in a brown doublet im Juli 2010 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 769.250,00 (€ 924.936,45).
