The work Four Men Moving a Boulder, Two Onlookers by Salvator Rosa was sold in the From Taddeo to Tiepolo: The Dr. John O’Brien Collection of Old Master Drawings auction at Sothebys in New York in January 2021. The price achieved of USD 13,860.00 (€ 11,421.51) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as USD 12,000.00 – 18,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Salvator Rosa achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Portrait of the artist, half-length, in a brown doublet in July 2010 with an auction result of GBP 769,250.00 (€ 924,936.45).
