Upper estimated price slightly exceeded
In January 2018 Christies in New York held the auction Old Master & British Drawings, which included the work Study of a sleeping man in a hat and cloak by Salvator Rosa. Here, the upper estimate of USD 4,000.00 was slightly exceeded - the artwork found a new owner for USD 4,375.00 (€ 3,520.28). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Salvator Rosa achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Portrait of the artist, half-length, in a brown doublet in July 2010 with an auction result of GBP 769,250.00 (€ 924,936.45).
