Auction result well in line with expectations
The work A Traveller Discovers A Man Tied To A Tree by Salvator Rosa was sold in the Old Master & British Works on Paper auction at Sothebys in London in July 2017. The price achieved of GBP 23,750.00 (€ 26,501.35) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 20,000.00 – 30,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Salvator Rosa achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Portrait of the artist, half-length, in a brown doublet in July 2010 with an auction result of GBP 769,250.00 (€ 924,936.45).

Der dabei erzielte Preis von GBP 23.750,00 (€ 26.501,35) lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit GBP 20.000,00 – 30.000,00 angegeben worden. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Salvator Rosa erzielen.
