Auction result well in line with expectations
In February 2008 Sothebys in New York held the auction Impressionist and Modern Art including Russian and Latin American Art, which included the work Village With Windmill And Cornfield by Sal Meijer. The price achieved of USD 17,500.00 (€ 11,523.01) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as USD 15,000.00 – 20,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Sal Meijer - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Aan den Omval, Amsterdam, which sold at auction in June 2008 for EUR 25,000.00.
