The work Edo Period (1615-1868), Circa 1820 by Ryuryukyo Shinsai was worth USD 27,812.50 (€ 24,023.93) to a buyer in September 2021. This price was achieved in the auction Fine Japanese and Korean Art, including the Crawford Collection of Surimono at Bonhams in New York and exceeded the previously set upper estimate of USD 6,000.00 many times over. Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by Ryuryukyo Shinsai; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot Edo Period (1615-1868), Circa 1820 sold at auction in September 2021 with the realized price of USD 37,812.50 (€ 32,661.74).
