Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Family and Their Old Home, c. 1937; and Untitled (Store facades), 1936 by Russell Lee was auctioned at Christies in New York in September 2007, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 2,000.00 – 3,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 812.50 (€ 571.42). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Russell Lee achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Pie Town, New Mexico. in November 2002 with an auction result of GBP 12,925.00 (€ 20,239.88).
