Sold at the upper estimate price
In December 2011 Christies in New York held the auction Photographs Including Crossing America: Photographs from The Consolidated Freightways Collection, Part II, which included the work New York, c. 1948 by Rudy Burckhardt. The auction ended at the price of USD 2,500.00 (€ 1,927.08), which exactly corresponded to the upper end of the estimated price range of USD 1,500.00 – 2,500.00. Admittedly, works by Rudy Burckhardt have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Flatiron Building, Summer, 1948 in February 2007 with an auction result of USD 10,200.00 (€ 7,709.75).
Zuschlag beim oberen Schätzpreis
Im Dezember 2011 führte Christies in New York die Auktion Photographs Including Crossing America: Photographs from The Consolidated Freightways Collection, Part II durch, in der auch die Arbeit New York, c. 1948 von Rudy Burckhardt zur Versteigerung kam. Das dabei erzielte Ergebnis von USD 2.500,00 (€ 1.927,08) entsprach exakt dem oberen Ende der Schätzpreisspanne von USD 1.500,00 – 2.500,00. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Rudy Burckhardt auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Flatiron Building, Summer, 1948 im Februar 2007 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 10.200,00 (€ 7.709,75).
