Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Mount Macpherson by William Rubery Bennett was sold in the AUSTRALIAN, INTERNATIONAL AND CONTEMPORARY PAINTINGS auction at Christies in Melbourne in May 2004. The price achieved of AUD 13,145.00 (€ 7,680.20) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as AUD 12,000.00 – 16,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by William Rubery Bennett - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Storm Clouds over Silverdale (Close to Camden, NSW), which sold at auction in May 2002 for AUD 30,550.00 (€ 18,515.15).
