Upper estimate price exceeded by more than 100%
This artwork by Romulo Olazo achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in Hong Kong in May 2016. In the Asian 20th Century Art (Day Sale) auction, the work Diaphanous sold for HKD 175,000.00 (€ 20,226.76) - well above the upper estimate of HKD 60,000.00. Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by Romulo Olazo; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot Diaphanous sold at auction in December 2021 with the realized price of HKD 350,000.00 (€ 39,644.81).

Dieses Kunstwerk von Romulo Olazo erzielte im Mai 2016 bei Christies in Hong Kong einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion Asian 20th Century Art (Day Sale) wurde die Arbeit Diaphanous für HKD 175.000,00 (€ 20.226,76) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von HKD 60.000,00. Trotz des guten Ergebnisses ist dies nicht der höchste Zuschlag für ein Kunstwerk von Romulo Olazo; den erzielte unter den von uns beobachteten Auktionen die Arbeit Diaphanous im Dezember 2021 mit dem Hammerpreis von HKD 350.000,00 (€ 39.644,81).
