Auction result misses estimated price range
This work of art by Robert Trenaman Back could be acquired at Christies in New York in February 2004 for an unexpectedly low price. In the Maritime auction, the work The U.S.S. Franklin, racing schooners and other shipping at the entrance to an American harbour changed hands for USD 7,767.50 (€ 6,243.47) - missing the lower end of the estimate range of USD 8,000.00 – 12,000.00. Other works by Robert Trenaman Back have also sold for higher prices; the highest price we have seen at auction so far was achieved in May 2000 by the work The Battle of Trafalgar: H.M.S. Victory, Temeraire and Neptune breaking the enemy line, 21st October 1805 at GBP 6,462.50 (€ 10,369.93).
