Auction result well in line with expectations
The work The Flayed Angels by Robert Smithson was sold in the Post-War and Contemporary Afternoon Session auction at Christies in New York in May 2014. The price achieved of USD 62,500.00 (€ 45,821.11) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as USD 50,000.00 – 70,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Robert Smithson achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Alogon #3 in May 2008 with an auction result of USD 4,297,000.00 (€ 2,761,568.12).
