Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work 'Classic Elvis' by Robert Silvers was auctioned at Sothebys in New York in October 2012, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 15,000.00 – 25,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 13,750.00 (€ 10,611.21). Admittedly, works by Robert Silvers have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Dollar Bill in October 2004 with an auction result of GBP 53,775.00 (€ 77,397.02).
