Upper estimated price slightly exceeded
In May 2016 Christies in New York held the auction American Art, which included the work "Goliath hit him with the first clean right hand of the evening" by Robert Riggs. The »bidding war« ended at USD 72,500.00 (€ 65,110.01), 21% above the upper estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Robert Riggs - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Boxers, which sold at auction in December 2005 for USD 204,000.00 (€ 172,268.20).
Oberer Schätzpreis leicht übertroffen
Im Mai 2016 führte Christies in New York die Auktion American Art durch, in der auch die Arbeit "Goliath hit him with the first clean right hand of the evening" von Robert Riggs zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von USD 72.500,00 (€ 65.110,01) und damit 21% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Für andere Arbeiten von Robert Riggs mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Boxers beobachtet, die im Dezember 2005 für USD 204.000,00 (€ 172.268,20) versteigert wurde.
