Artwork auctioned at three times the upper estimate price
When the work The New Hat by Robert Vickrey was auctioned at Bonhams in Los Angeles in August this year, the result exceeded expectations many times over. The upper estimate was set at a - in retrospect quite modest - USD 3,500.00 but the actual price achieved was more than three times as high at USD 12,800.00 (€ 11,809.21). However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Robert Vickrey - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work A Green Thought, which sold at auction in May 2021 for USD 35,312.50 (€ 28,958.91).
Kunstwerk zum Dreifachen des oberen Schätzpreises versteigert
Als die Arbeit The New Hat von Robert Vickrey im August diesen Jahres bei Bonhams in Los Angeles versteigert wurde, übertraf das Ergebnis die Erwartungen um ein Vielfaches. Der obere Schätzpreis war mit – rückwirkend betrachtet recht bescheidenen – USD 3.500,00 angesetzt, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis hingegen war mit USD 12.800,00 (€ 11.809,21) mehr als dreimal so hoch. Für andere Arbeiten von Robert Vickrey mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit A Green Thought beobachtet, die im Mai 2021 für USD 35.312,50 (€ 28.958,91) versteigert wurde.
