Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work The Resting Place by Robert Medley was auctioned at Sothebys in London in November 2010, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of GBP 3,000.00 – 5,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for GBP 2,750.00 (€ 3,286.25). Admittedly, works by Robert Medley have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Red and green figuration in June 2008 with an auction result of GBP 20,000.00 (€ 25,280.67).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit The Resting Place von Robert Medley im November 2010 bei Sothebys in London versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 3.000,00 – 5.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für GBP 2.750,00 (€ 3.286,25) den Besitzer. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Robert Medley auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Red and green figuration im Juni 2008 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 20.000,00 (€ 25.280,67).
