Auction result misses estimated price range
This work of art by Robert Dodd could be acquired at Christies in London in November 2010 for an unexpectedly low price. In the Maritime Art auction, the work The battle of the Saintes, 12th April, 1782 (both illustrated) changed hands for GBP 18,750.00 (€ 22,406.22) - missing the lower end of the estimate range of GBP 20,000.00 – 30,000.00. Admittedly, works by Robert Dodd have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work The Greenland Whale Fishery in November 2006 with an auction result of GBP 88,800.00 (€ 131,870.78).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Dieses Kunstwerk von Robert Dodd konnte im November 2010 bei Christies in London für einen unerwartet niedrigen Preis ersteigert werden. In der Auktion Maritime Art wechselte die Arbeit The battle of the Saintes, 12th April, 1782 (both illustrated) für GBP 18.750,00 (€ 22.406,22) den Besitzer – und verfehlte damit das untere Ende der Schätzpreisspanne von GBP 20.000,00 – 30.000,00. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Robert Dodd auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit The Greenland Whale Fishery im November 2006 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 88.800,00 (€ 131.870,78).
