Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Commodore Dance's celebrated action against a French squadron in the Straits of Malacca on 15th February 1804 by Robert Dodd was auctioned at Bonhams in London in October 2021. The price achieved of GBP 12,750.00 (€ 15,105.31) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 10,000.00 – 15,000.00. Admittedly, works by Robert Dodd have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work The Greenland Whale Fishery in November 2006 with an auction result of GBP 88,800.00 (€ 131,870.78).
