Auction result misses estimated price range
In February this year a collector was able to acquire the work Miss Liberty, 1980 by Robert Colescott for USD 4,500,375.00 (€ 4,244,835.88). This price was achieved in the auction Post War & Contemporary Art at Bonhams and was even below the estimate range of USD 5,000,000.00 – 7,000,000.00 set by the auction house. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Robert Colescott - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work George Washington Carver Crossing The Delaware: Page From An American History Textbook, which sold at auction in May 2021 for USD 15,315,900.00 (€ 12,560,193.54).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Im Februar diesen Jahres konnte ein Sammler die Arbeit Miss Liberty, 1980 von Robert Colescott für USD 4.500.375,00 (€ 4.244.835,88) erwerben. Dieser Preis wurde in der Auktion Post War & Contemporary Art bei Bonhams erzielt und lag noch unterhalb der von dem Auktionshaus angesetzten Schätzpreisspanne von USD 5.000.000,00 – 7.000.000,00. Für andere Arbeiten von Robert Colescott mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit George Washington Carver Crossing The Delaware: Page From An American History Textbook beobachtet, die im Mai 2021 für USD 15.315.900,00 (€ 12.560.193,54) versteigert wurde.
