Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work A River Landscape With A Castle On An Escarpment by Robert Adam was auctioned at Sothebys in London in July 2011, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of GBP 4,000.00 – 6,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for GBP 3,750.00 (€ 4,303.69). However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Robert Adam - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Elevation of an organ for Sir Nathaniel Curzon, Bt., which sold at auction in July 2015 for GBP 10,000.00 (€ 14,176.64).
