Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work A Ravine With Figures On A River Bank by Robert Adam was auctioned at Sothebys in London in July 2011, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of GBP 4,000.00 – 6,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for GBP 3,750.00 (€ 4,303.69). However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Robert Adam - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Elevation of an organ for Sir Nathaniel Curzon, Bt., which sold at auction in July 2015 for GBP 10,000.00 (€ 14,176.64).
