Conceived in 1911. The agreement between the artist (and then his widow) and the Galerie Giroux provided an edition of twelve. The twelve examples were cast between 1912 and 1957 and all of them are located.

Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Contemplation Ou Buste De Femme : En Contemplation by Rik Wouters was auctioned at Sothebys in Paris in March 2018. It changed hands for a price of EUR 187,500.00 achieving a result in the upper range of the estimate price range of EUR 150,000.00 – 200,000.00. Admittedly, works by Rik Wouters have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Femme En Forêt, Chapeau Bleu À La Main, Bras Levé in June 2018 with an auction result of GBP 1,210,000.00 (€ 1,367,506.21).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Die Arbeit Contemplation Ou Buste De Femme : En Contemplation von Rik Wouters kam im März 2018 bei Sothebys in Paris zur Auktion. Dabei wechselte sie für einen Preis von EUR 187.500,00 den Besitzer und erzielte damit ein Ergebnis im oberen Bereich der Schätzpreisspanne von EUR 150.000,00 – 200.000,00. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Rik Wouters auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Femme En Forêt, Chapeau Bleu À La Main, Bras Levé im Juni 2018 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 1.210.000,00 (€ 1.367.506,21).
